    What does it mean to be free? 'Hello World' is a colony of freedom-loving, cube-shaped robots that want to explore the world, but cannot exist without each other.

    'Hello World' was part of CRITTERS expo at the Beyond Human Festival 2019.

    'Here we are' is an interactive sound and space installation which forms a dialogue between movements in real space and sound in a virtual space. The sounds originate from various sources forming a 'frozen' sound collage which are scrubbed by the user's movements.

    Composer Jan Foote wrote a music piece for the saxophone which makes use of variable pitch shifting on various notes. This audio effect detects the note being played and offsets the pitch which was predetermined for each note. The sound in combination with its original source creates a beating effect, similar to what you hear when tuning a guitar.

    The Parallel Archive is a dynamic online tool for simultaneously archiving and disclosing work. It covers a range of functions, operating as an interactive chatbox, as a growing library and as an instrument for active dialogue. Marsdiep developed the web application together with Jules van den Langenberg.

    Every year the KABK creates a calendarium for the upcoming school year. From 2015 to 2017 I helped out with automating the translation from an Excel spreadsheet to InDesign. The design was done by Koos Breen (2015, 2016) and the KABK studio Rieme Gleijm (2017).

    A research project on how cinematic narrative can be created from data – directed and designed by a computer. While looking into the history of movie, cinema and graphic design, we let the computer generate stills and sequences. This questions what the role is between man and machine in the creation and experience of a (cinematic) narrative.

    The website for an installation by artist Nikki Hock. Without a single click you navigate the website by moving your mouse, which translates the feeling of moving through a space.

    Marsdiep created an infinite scrolling website which features the documentation of a pilot residency which took place in 2016. The News from Nowhere project by Jules van den Langenberg and Jan Pieter Kaptein brings together new talent to develop a Manual for Civilization in a 24 hour residency.

  • FC DDW 2015 / Paul, 2015

    We developed a system that encourages a visitor to view the artworks not in themselves but against the background they are a reaction to – the PSV Stadium. We created "Paul" – a collection of viewpoints that routes the visitor along and offers chosen views on the artworks against the stadium. Marsdiep also designed the website that mimics the system online.
